Frequently asked questions
The classic ascent route to the Rifugio Dal Piaz starts from Passo Croce d’Aune ùand runs along part of the Alta Via 2 (path CAI 801). The route has no technical passages, it has a development of about 5 km and a vertical drop of 970 m; on average, the journey time is about 2.30 / 3.00 hours. In the presence of snow, the route may have sections exposed with frozen, hard or slippery snow. Whoever decides to reach the refuge in the presence of snow must know that they’re doing it at their own risk.

The refuge can be reached by MTB starting from Passo Croce d’Aune and following the old military mule track; the development is about 11 km and the altitude difference of 970 m. MTB transit is not authorized along the CAI paths in the area.
The refuge is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in May and every day from the 1st of June, until the 20th September. Outside of this period, it opens on weekends and public holidays based on weather and snow conditions.
